Explain how your experience affected you as a person
My experience has made me grow in my knowledge and love for animals. This has made me certain that I want to major in zoology.
How did you change?
This experience changed my thoughts of what I will do with my degree when I graduate. I loved interacting with it others and sharing my knowledge with them instead of being behind the scenes playing with animals like in my past years volunteering.
How do you see the world differently as a result of your experience?
After my experience it has made me realize how large the world is and what I could experience in other places outside of Ohio. This could help me grow as a person and in my understanding of animals and where they come from.
How did this experience impact or reveal your character?
This experience has made me grow in so many ways. This has made me more confident in everything I do whether it be talking to strangers or just talking to one of my friends about something simple. This is also something that I am beyond proud since not only did I do something I loved and learned from it but I also got into the volunteer program and got into the region that is the hardest to get into.
Was this a meaningful experience? Why or why not?
This was more than meaningful to me. This was exactly what I want to do after college and being able to experience this years in advance means everything to me.
What new knowledge or skills did you learn from this experience?
I learned so much about animals during this. However, while I learned like actual information one could learn in a book I also got hands on experience with them to learn their behaviors and such. I learned what would make the animals happy and which animal liked what in its enclosure to play with. This was an experience that could not have been better in anyway I learned more than I ever could have imagined.
What would you do differently if you were to start over?
If I would do it over I would try to get trained on more animals and gotten trained on animals sooner. This is because if you handle an animal more and more often you understand how the animal moves what scares it and things like that. I knew so much about the snakes however I could never understand what I was doing wrong to make the cockroaches hiss.
